CASK BEER COMES TO THE COLORADO HIGH COUNTRY

The Dyer Public House has partnered with Hogshead Brewery to serve high quality ales and lagers in cask and kegs. We are the first offer to cask ale in the Colorado high country and look forward to introducing these unique old school beers to our South Park friends and visitors. Cask ain’t your thing? We have Hogshead on keg as well.

What is the difference between cask conditioned and keg beers?

Cask - Cool, creamy, less carbonated. The beer goes through secondary fermentation in the vessel it is stored in. This process creates natural carbonation which results in a smoother, creamier mouth feel. Guinness created nitro so they could emulate the cask feel while still preserving the beer for distribution around the world. We can then use the beer engine to pull the beer straight out of the vessel. Temperature control is around 43 degrees versus times in Europe where the temperature is dependent on the weather/ ground temperature which can at times have the beer above 50 degrees in temperature.

Keg - Cold and bubbly. Beer is brewed, packaged into kegs and carbonation is forced in once the vessel is “tapped.” Keg beer is served at around 37 degrees and provides the consumer with a much colder and bubblier beer, what they are generally used to having on draught.
